Acts 2:42
is an excellent model of how today’s church family can grow
together in wisdom and understanding as they mature in Christ. The
early church devoted themselves to Bible study, fellowship,
breaking of bread together and to prayer. At First Baptist Church
we believe that if we are to grow in relationships within our
church family we need to be devoted to:
Studying God’s Word . . .
Studying God’s word together allows children, students, and adults
to broaden their foundation of godly wisdom for daily living. And,
as we study His word together we come to understand our place of
service in His kingdom. Regular involvement and attendance in
Bible study is one of the keys to effective service. First Baptist
Church offers age-graded studies throughout the year. Sunday
School, Discipleship Studies, and Evangelism Explosion are
perhaps the more visible elements of the Education Ministry of
First Baptist.
Fellowshipping with One Another . . .
God's design for believers to grow is within the context of a
shared life with other believers. That is what the word
"fellowship" means. Fellowship is the sharing of life in the
Lord Jesus Christ. Opportunities to minister and
serve one another increase as we spend time together. Fellowship
allows us to not only develop our talents and gifts, but also
provides an avenue of expressing those gifts.
Spending seasons of Prayer Together . . .
Perhaps one of the most important times our church spends together
as a corporate body is when we come together to seek the Lord in
prayer.
God’s word says, “My house will be a house of prayer.” (Mark 1:17) Your First
Baptist Church staff is committed to prayer. We believe that
prayer is our vital link to unleashing the power of God in our
community. Scripture tells us many times to call out to God and to
seek Him. We are also called to pray for one another. At various
times of the year our church family will schedule seasons of
prayer. You are invited to join us as we continue to seek God’s
perfect will.
First Baptist Church is more than a building located on South
Burnside Avenue. We are a family seeking to love one another as
Christ commanded and to share the love of Christ with our
community. This can only occur if we are united in Him. You are
invited to worship with us and join the Family of Encouragement
each Sunday and Wednesday during our regular schedule of ministry.
