Each spring, our adults, children, youth, singles,
couples, and even a few senior adults have traveled across the
border to Mexico to a place much different than home. It is a
place of need. It is a place where people long to know the
blessings of having Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. There is a
great need for churches that can effectively reach their
communities with the Gospel. The resources to accomplish this
mission are lacking among the churches that are currently
located around these communities. As the Mexican people move
closer to the borders to seek financial prosperity and
opportunity, the need becomes even greater.
For several years, we have partnered with Iglesia Bautista El
Divino Salvador, located in Matamoros, to spread the Gospel
through Vacation Bible Schools, Pastor’s Conferences and the
showing of the Jesus Film. Our ministry also consists of a team
of men that repair, refurbish and construct new churches.
Recently, we have begun to partner with an Hispanic Pastor to
reach Rio Bravo, a city of 500,000 that reports only about 150
attending evangelical churches. This partnership began in 2005
and will continue.
When families join
together in the great commission, great things happen. Families take part in laying up treasures in heaven… “where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do
not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also (Matthew 6:20-21).
Families begin to
resemble the purpose of the family of God by knowing God and making Him known. There is nothing that
compares with individuals and families taking part with God in
His work. With joy, we will continue to take God’s redemptive message from
our families to the nations!
