We are committed to an Acts 1:8 strategy as
we look beyond the walls of our church. Listed below are some of
the missions and ministries that we are currently involved in or
have plans to participate in during the year.
Our Jerusalem . . . Ascension Parish
We have a commitment to fulfill Christ’s mission
LOCALLY. With the reputation of Christ at stake, we want to
represent Him to our community. Through various ministries of
our Church, we want to minister in His name within our own
Jerusalem.
From the overflow of Jesus Christ in our lives, we are
privileged to joyfully fulfill our responsibilities as a local
church through the ministries of FBC to our community until all
have the opportunity to be reconciled to God and made disciples
of Christ by the living, active, penetrating Word of God. “Faith
comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ”
(Romans 10:17).
We attempt to accomplish this by “conducting ourselves
with wisdom toward outsiders…making the most of our
opportunities” (Col. 4:4). We are challenged to “let our light
shine before men that they may see our good deeds and praise our
Father in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).

Our Judea . . . Baton Rouge and the State of
Louisiana
Being open and available to fulfill opportunities
outside of our parish that would exalt Christ, promote Christ’s
Church and give glory to God. These are mission projects that
could be accomplished in a one-day time period without overnight
lodging.

~ International Students
~ Prison Ministry
Our Samaria . . . North America
To be open to start new works or support other
like-hearted churches who need assistance in reaching their
local communities so that their local communities can have
opportunity to be reconciled to God and made disciples of Christ
for the Glory of God. There are some areas in our nation that
have churches with limited personnel and resources. We desire to
build a relationship with these churches to offer encouragement
and provide them with additional resources to aid them in
fulfilling their ministry.

Our Uttermost . . . Everywhere Else!
Involving our church in a “Church Start” in an area
where no New Testament Church is available or coming alongside
other Churches with limited resources to reach their peoples
with the Gospel. To see a church established where one does not
presently exist for the Glory of God. We are a Southern Baptist
Church and we give to the Cooperative Program which supports
over 10,000 missionaries throughout the world. Throughout the
year, we have mission offerings which go to supporting these
missionaries. We have adopted a people group in the 10/40 window as
our unreached people group focus. We want to challenge our
congregation to be world Christians with a heart to obey
Christ’s Commission with an eye on the world.
