About the Seminary Extension Program

First Gonzales is partnering with New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary to offer a Pastoral Ministry Certificate. Classes are fully accredited and can be applied toward an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.


Those wanting to participate in the next NOBTS seminary certificate course, "Hermeneutics" need to make plans to come to the first class on Monday, August 5th at 6:30 p.m. The course will conclude with the final exam on September 23rd.

The class will meet at First Baptist Church Gonzales in the chapel which is located at the back of the facility. Please park in the south-side parking lot.

New students will need to bring a check for $125 made out to First Baptist Church Gonzales. It is very important that you bring the check in order to register, otherwise, your registration will be delayed until the check is received. Returning students will need to bring a check for $100.

The required course textbook is:

  • Duvall, J. Scott, and J. Daniel Hays, "Grasping God's Word: a Hands-On Approach to Reading, Interpreting, and Applying the Bible." Michigan: Zondervan, 2014. (Third Edition)
