Sunday, January 19th - Sunday February 2nd, 2020
First Baptist Gonzales first experienced a Life Action event in 2000. The Lord moved in a powerful way over that 2-week period, with many coming to faith for the first time, many more rededicating their lives to Christ, others being baptized in obedience to the Lord, and still more repenting of various sins and walking in freedom from bondage.
This year marks 20 years since that life-changing revival. While we cannot simply schedule a great move of God on our own terms, we have set aside 2 more weeks to pray and seek God as intently as we can.
Below, you will find a schedule of the planned Summit events, as well as a description of various needs and ways you can help FBC accomodate the Life Action Blue Team. The Life Action Blue Team arrives on Friday January 17th, and will depart to their next church on Friday, February 7th.
The most important preparation in which we can participate is prayer. A church cannot simply "schedule" a revival. On the other hand, we can set time aside to earnestly seek God, and to ask Him for a great move of His Spirit. You can get started by downloading this free e-book on praying for revival: "Praying For Spiritual Awakening." You can utilize other prayer resources in preparation for the Life Action Summit at OneCry.
About 12 host homes will be needed to house members of the team. Each home will be required to house a minimum of 2 team members of the same gender. One of the main responsibilities of the host home is to provide meals for the team members on certain days. FBC will provide help with the meals. If you would like to know more about hosting, see Brother Jarrod or the host home coordinator, Darlene Wilhelm. A sign-up sheet is in the Welcome Center.
Team & Event Meals
It will be necessary for FBC to provide lunches and dinners for the team on most days, with some exceptions. There will also be a Thursday Ladies' Luncheon and a Saturday Home Life event that will require provision of meals. If you would like to help serve or prepare meals, please see Brother Jarrod or our meal coordinator, Jamie Trisler. A sign-up sheet is in the Welcome Center.
Loaner vehicles will be required for team members to travel between their host moes and FBC. At least 10 loaner vehicles will be needed for the entire time the team is housed in our area (about 3 weeks' time). If you have a vehicle you can spare for all or part of the needed time, or if you have questions about the process, see Brother Jarrod or the loaner vehicle coordinator, Doug Rhodes. A sign-up sheet is in the Welcome Center.
Childcare (Infants to 3-Year-Olds)
With such a full schedule of events, childcare will need to be provided on a rotating basis. Life Action has programs for children and students (age 4 and up), but our youngest children will need to be cared for by volunteers. If you meet the requirements for childcare and can take one or more shifts during the summit, please volunteer! If you have questions, see Brother Jeremy. A sign-up sheet will be available in the coming weeks.
There will be a Ladies' Luncheon on Thursday, January 23rd, at 11:30 AM. A Saturday family conference, called Home Life Cafe', will be on Saturday, January 25th, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. There will be events for all age groups, and lunch will be provided. A sign-up sheet for these two events will be available in the coming weeks.
